Procedure to Legalize a Document in the United States

To be legalized, the document must go through the following steps:

1) Notarization (Original or Copy of the Original and Translation to Spanish)

2) Authentication of Notary's Signature (This must be done by the State Secretary):

SECTION 2: NOTARIAL ACTS

P-1  1. Drafting and notarization of power of attorney or revocation of power of attorney; Legalization of power of attorney not issued by the consular post; Additional testimony. (Fee for each of the services listed, for Bolivian citizens)  $         50.00

COMMERICIAL DOCUMENTS
DC-1 1. General or Special Power of attorney; legalization not issued by the Consul; legalization of any commercial document; Legalization of translations of contracts not issued by the consular office; legalization of translation of power of attorney; Additional testimony, legalization of a translation of any commercial document (Fee for each of the services listed).  $       150.00
2. If the Power includes a monetary value exceeding US $ 5,000.00 (five thousand dollars) or its equivalent, there will be a fee of $5 per thousand (5 o / oo), rounded to nearest multiple of 5. (5 o/oo)
DC-2 Legalization of any of the following documents: Minutes of the Board; Statute, Balance and Financial Statement for management and others.  $       150.00
DOCUMENTS RELATING TO NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
DS-1 Legalization of a contract for the establishment, renewal, amendment or change of name, transfer or dissolution of a non-profit company, organization or association; Legalization of a translation of any of these documents.  $       100.00
DS-2 Drafting and notarization of power on the Framework Agreement, revocation for non-profit organization or association, granting of testimony, or any other documentation requested by these organizations.  $       100.00
DS-3 Legalization of each document for procedures of the Framework Agreement for foreign NGOs.  $       100.00
EDUCATION DOCUMENTS
E-1  Legalization of original or photocopies of transcripts of Post-secondary education, educational institutions, certificates of completion of study to degree level, and analytical study programs for Bolivian individuals  $          5.00
E-2  Legalization of original or copy of Academic Degree Diploma or Professional Degree, post-secondary School Diploma or title Study (Graduate, Post-Graduate, Specialization, etc.) and other Universities for Bolivian individuals.  $         30.00

Processing by Mail

You can complete the process by mail. Payment must be sent in Money Order payable to the Consulate of Bolivia or by Credit/Debit Card.

We recommend using a reliable, certified or express courrier mail service. Package should include a return pre-paid envelope with the correct return address.

Shipping and returns costs are covered by the applicant. The Consulate is not responsible for lost or damaged documents outside the office or during transit.
